Local context
What we paint in Dicky Beach.
Dicky Beach is named for the SS Dicky, which ran aground in 1893, and its lots sold from 1947 once the wartime army camps came out. At the 2021 census, 23 percent of occupied homes were townhouses or semi-detached, and the suburb has two retirement villages.
What we watch for
Substrate and exposure notes.
Houses near the foreshore face open surf, so their seaward walls get a harder wash and a heavier system. Older houses get an asbestos test on fibro eaves and a lead test on paint that could pre-date 1970. On complexes, colour approval comes from the committee before we start.
