Local context

What we paint in Currimundi.

Currimundi sits between Dicky Beach and Wurtulla, with Currimundi Lake, a saltwater lake, meeting the sea beside the beach. The first streets went in during the early 1960s, mostly on the beach side of Nicklin Way. New estates spread west through the late 1970s and 1980s. That leaves the suburb with two generations of housing, the older homes near the water and the family homes on the western side. The 2021 census counted 6,570 residents. About one in six occupied homes was a townhouse or similar, and 24.6 percent were rented, so property managers are part of the mix along with owners. One Currimundi customer, David, wrote in his Google review that our team "really know what they are doing". Jim did his quote, and Mitch and Tim did the painting.

What we watch for

Substrate and exposure notes.

The age split shapes what we check. Older homes east of Nicklin Way get a lead test on any paint that could pre-date 1970. Fibro eaves on either side get an asbestos test before anyone sands. On the streets by the beach and the lake, salt dries onto the seaward walls, so they're washed with fresh water before priming. Timber fascias and sills on the 1980s houses get probed for soft spots and repaired before paint. Where a home or townhouse has fibre cement cladding, the joins between sheets are where cracks show first, so the sealant is checked and redone if it has split. Mould on shady south walls is killed and rinsed off before any coat goes on.

Shops, offices and unit blocks

Commercial painting in Currimundi.

Most commercial work in Currimundi sits along Nicklin Way, where the shopping centre and the smaller shops line the main road. Shops and cafes there can't shut for days, so we can paint after hours and clear up before opening. The suburb's townhouse complexes and small unit blocks bring body corporate jobs, from common walls and stairs to fences and letterbox areas, with the committee approving colours first. On a shopfront, we agree with the owner which doors, awnings, window frames and sign surrounds are in the job before we price it. Kawana Shoppingworld at Buddina is a short drive north, and we quote work there the same way.

Common questions

Painting in Currimundi: common questions.

  • Is Currimundi part of the area you paint in?

It is. Currimundi is part of the Caloundra coast we cover, and we work on both sides of Nicklin Way. Houses on the beach side need a different spec from the western streets, and our Currimundi exterior page sets out why. For interiors and townhouse complexes, start with a quote request and tell us your street.

  • How long before you can get to my Currimundi job?

Every written quote comes with a start date, so you’ll know before you agree to anything. The date depends on the season and on any testing an older home needs. If a lead or asbestos test is due, the results come back before work begins. Summer storms can slow outside work, so a late winter or spring exterior is easier to pin down.

  • What should I budget to paint a Currimundi house?

Start with our guide ranges. A single-storey weatherboard exterior runs about $10,000 to $25,000, a rendered one $7,000 to $14,000, and a full 3-bedroom interior $8,000 to $14,000. Older houses that need testing and extra prep can sit higher. The house painting cost guide shows how each figure is built, and a visit gives you your own number.
