Pelican Waters is a canal estate at the southern end of the Caloundra coast, where the canals open out onto the Pumicestone Passage. It finally got going in 1989 with about 20 blocks, then filled in through the 1990s and 2000s around a golf course designed by Greg Norman and Bob Harrison. The northern and eastern parts are mostly canal frontage. It's a big suburb, with 7,393 residents at the 2021 census, and a settled one. Separate houses made up 88 percent of occupied homes, 56.3 percent were owned outright and only 12.6 percent were rented. So most homes here belong to owners who plan to stay, and many have had twenty years or more of sun on their paint.
